SOL Food Summer Program (2017)

I designed and taught the curriculum for a six week long apprenticeship on an urban farm in North East Philadelphia. I led 12 young people from local high schools through the apprenticeship. The entire program consisted of class time, farm time, cooking and nutrition lessons, field trips to local mission-aligned organizations, and working with the senior residents of the building to build an intergenerational community.

This is the rough outline for the curriculum I used during our class time, including an introduction to Food Justice, learning about the history of growing food in our country, analyzing our organization’s role and impact, and more.
